  1. What part of the crucifixion scene is most difficult for you to grasp?
  2. What difference does it make to think of God as the primary person who is offended by our sin? How does that affect the way we approach forgiveness?
  3. In what way does our lack of forgiveness block our reception of God’s forgiveness? 
  4. What is the difference between forgiveness and reconciliation? In what sort of situation might you practice one but not pursue the other?
  5. Why does forgiveness not involve forgetting? What does it involve when it comes to our memory?
  6. What situation in your life or in our current cultural moment might forgiveness make a decisive difference?
  7. What will you do this week to advance forgiveness in your world?

Four whole days of basking in the unity and the camaraderie that the Olympics are known for. The world comes together for these games to compete in a wide variety of sports and demonstrate that we can get along, at least for a couple of weeks. World leaders usually attend, too, and one of the prominent attendees in Beijing was Russian president Vladimir Putin. All eyes were on Putin because his army had been establishing itself along the border with Ukraine. And four days after the Olympics were over, that army moved.
