  1. What is an item that connects you with or reminds you most of your childhood?
  2. Who modeled the faith most for you? Who was the first person you remember sharing Jesus with you?
  3. Recall the “cycle of discipleship.” How does that resonate with you? How have you experienced it in your own life?
  4. How would you have reacted when you heard Jesus say, “You give them something to eat”?
  5. Why is the miracle here “unmiraculous”?
  6. Which type of small groups have you participated in? Which one(s) have helped you grow in your faith the most?
  7. Are you in a small group currently? Why or why not?
  8. React to John Stott’s statement: “God is not pleased with superficial discipleship.” Is Stott right? Why or why not?
