  1. What stories or experiences of spiritual malpractice are you aware of?
  2. What occupations have the highest ethics, in your opinion? Which occupations have the least? Where do religious authorities rank on that list?
  3. In what way(s) did Jesus and the Pharisees agree? How did they disagree?
  4. Why did Jesus reserve such harsh words for the Pharisees? To whom do you think he would direct such words today?
  5. What does it mean to be an ambassador? What does it mean to be an ambassador for Christ?
  6. How does James describe “pure” religion? How does that compare to what we experience today?
  7. How should we respond to those who have been through spiritual malpractice? How can you live out the practice of tikkun olam?
