Questions to Discuss or Ponder:

  1. Who is in the group that you would most likely classify as “them”? How do you feel about “them”?
  2. Why are we so happy when someone else’s sin is seemingly punished? Why are we so quick to rush to such judgment?
  3. Why are we tempted to rely on external behaviors to prove our devotion to God (i.e., the Pharisee in Jesus’ parable)?
  4. Why does the Bible prohibit making physical representations of God? What are the ways we still try to do that today? How do those idols become stumbling blocks for our spiritual life?
  5. In what way are you “bearing God’s image” today?
  6. Where do you need to practice forgiveness this week?
  7. What are we implying when we say “love the sinner, hate the sin”?

Four whole days of basking in the unity and the camaraderie that the Olympics are known for. The world comes together for these games to compete in a wide variety of sports and demonstrate that we can get along, at least for a couple of weeks.
