Questions to Discuss or Ponder:

  1. Who is someone in your life that you have always wanted to or tried to be like? What about them makes you want that?
  2. Why is it significant that Jesus calls those he called “apostles”? Why do we prefer to be called a disciple?
  3. How do you respond to Jesus telling the twelve not to go to the Gentiles or Samaritans?
  4. What is your understanding of the message Jesus told the twelve (and us) to proclaim? What difference could this message make in someone’s life?
  5. Why, do you think, we are uncomfortable with “the stuff” that Jesus did?
  6. Where are the places in our world most in need of healing today?
  7. What is one way you can “freely give” mercy, grace and/or forgiveness this week?
  8. Which aspect of following the rabbi (being with him, becoming like him, do as he did) do you find the most challenging? Why?
