Questions to Discuss or Ponder:
- Who is someone in your life that you have always wanted to or tried to be like? What about them makes you want that?
- Why is it significant that Jesus calls those he called “apostles”? Why do we prefer to be called a disciple?
- How do you respond to Jesus telling the twelve not to go to the Gentiles or Samaritans?
- What is your understanding of the message Jesus told the twelve (and us) to proclaim? What difference could this message make in someone’s life?
- Why, do you think, we are uncomfortable with “the stuff” that Jesus did?
- Where are the places in our world most in need of healing today?
- What is one way you can “freely give” mercy, grace and/or forgiveness this week?
- Which aspect of following the rabbi (being with him, becoming like him, do as he did) do you find the most challenging? Why?
