Questions to Discuss or Ponder:
- When have you struggled with the way God is depicted in the Old Testament? What specific questions do you have?
- Why, do you think, David wanted to meld the political and the spiritual for the nation of Israel?
- Recall a time when your faith took a back seat to everything else. What caused you to return to your faith?
- How do you experience the tension between God’s love and God’s wrath?
- What are some examples of Scriptures you wish weren’t in the Bible, verses you often choose to ignore? Why those verses or passages?
- Why is God said to be “jealous”?
- What difference does it make to understand God as a God of love rather than an angry God?
