Questions to Discuss or Ponder:
  1. When have you struggled with the way God is depicted in the Old Testament? What specific questions do you have?
  2. Why, do you think, David wanted to meld the political and the spiritual for the nation of Israel?
  3. Recall a time when your faith took a back seat to everything else. What caused you to return to your faith?
  4. How do you experience the tension between God’s love and God’s wrath?
  5. What are some examples of Scriptures you wish weren’t in the Bible, verses you often choose to ignore? Why those verses or passages?
  6. Why is God said to be “jealous”?
  7. What difference does it make to understand God as a God of love rather than an angry God?
