  1. What do you remember learning about death and dying when you were a child? How does that affect your attitude toward it now?
  2. Of the three “witnesses,” which have you seen played out in your own family’s experience or in the experience of others?
  3. When have you been most like Abishag? In what way(s) have you been able to minister to those who are walking through the valley of the shadow of death?
  4. What enables us to provide such ministry with joy?
  5. What does it mean to grieve as those who have hope? How have you seen that lived out?
  6. What difference does God’s presence make in such times? Describe someone for whom you know it made a difference.
  7. How have you experienced the truth of Wesley’s last words: “The best of all is, God is with us”?
