Questions to Discuss or Ponder:
- Do you ever get distracted? In what situations are you most likely to be distracted from your tasks?
- What things most distract you from prayer?
- What are the modern equivalents of Elijah’s wind, earthquake and fire? What “things” or occurrences do we pay more attention to than God’s voice?
- Why, do you think, does God speak with such a quiet whisper?
- In what ways can you relate to the couple walking back to Emmaus, disappointed after Jesus’ death? When have you felt like them?
- Why do you think they were “kept from recognizing” Jesus on the road to Emmaus?
- Which of the three types of distractions mentioned do you struggle with the most when you want to listen to God?
- What do you need to do this week to help overcome the distractions that challenge you?
