Questions to Discuss or Ponder:

  1. In what way(s) does “love” underlie each of these “words of life”?
  2. What is the significance of James’ letter being sent to “the twelve tribes scattered”? How does that include us?
  3. What attitudes have you encountered about “religion”? What is true and what is false about each attitude?
  4. How are each of the things we make religion into actually a false idol?
  5. In what ways can the tongue do damage to people and to our world?
  6. Who are the vulnerable and marginalized in our world today? How can the church “look after” such people?
  7. Why do we often hear the word and not “do” it? How can we improve in that area of our lives?
