A Thousand Reasons (Study Guide)

“A Thousand Reasons”
Sermon Study Guide for July 7, 2019

Scripture: Luke 8:1-8

  1. The Parable
Planting & Harvesting

The seed and the sower…

Planted seeds: Mary, Joanna, Susanna

2. The Seeds

Matthew 16:18

Turning up the soil…

Questions to Discuss or Ponder:
  1. How would you get across this same idea to a largely non-rural audience today? What parable would you tell?
  2. In what way(s) have you been a sower?
  3. What seeds have been planted in you? Who planted them?
  4. Who are the “thousand reasons” you have to scatter seed? How will you go about that?
  5. Why does the church prefer to keep the seed in the barn? How can we challenge that inactivity?

Scripture for the Week:
Monday - Luke 11
Tuesday - Luke 12:1-34
Wednesday - Luke 12:35-59
