Questions to Discuss or Ponder:
  1. What do you know of Moses’ story? What significance does he have to the person of faith?
  2. What does your name mean? Why were you given your name?
  3. Do you have a nickname? Where did it come from? What does it mean?
  4. What is the significance of names in the Exodus story? Why are certain people named and others are not?
  5. What does it mean that Moses’ birth is set against the backdrop of genocide?
  6. What does “Moses” mean? How does his name embrace both his Hebrew and his Egyptian heritage?
  7. What strength did it take for Jochebed to give Moses up?
  8. How do you see yourself like Moses at this point in the story? Can you dare to believe God might use you?
