Questions to Discuss or Ponder:
- Recall what you know about the story of Job. What does it and what does it not tell us about pain?
- Why do we want answers to the question of pain and suffering? What places do people today turn to in order to try to find answers?
- Try to put yourself in Job’s place. How would all of his loss affect him? Would it help had he known the heavenly context?
- Recall a time when God used pain, sickness or struggle to shape your character. How did that time make you more like Jesus?
- Which do we want most: answers or God?
- Why is silence so healing in times of pain or suffering?
- How is sickness a sign of God’s favor?
