Questions to Discuss or Ponder:

  1. Why do you think God never informs Job why this suffering happens to him?
  2. What is it that Job wants? How does that relate to what you want/expect when you are hurting?
  3. What does it mean for us to say “God showed up”? What would it look like for Job to say God showed up?
  4. Recall a difficult time you have been through. What happened? How did you respond?
  5. What would it look like for you to “come forth as gold” out of a current trial?
  6. Which aspect of “living in the valley” speaks most to your situation today? How can you live into that learning?
  7. How can you be a “wounded healer”? What might God be calling you to do in this time and place?
  8. In what way(s) has Jesus given you rest in the midst of the valley of the sigh?
