Questions to Discuss or Ponder:
- Recall a time you found something in an unlikely place. What was it? What happened?
- What, do you think, motivated the two other men on crosses to join in the mocking of Jesus?
- What might have caused the change of heart for the one rebel?
- What is our natural tendency when something we have done wrong is found out? How does that contrast to what happens on Calvary?
- In Biblical terms, what does it mean if God remembers you?
- Why does Jesus promise paradise to this rebel? In what way does his promise mess with the usual way we understand repentance and salvation?
- When you picture “paradise,” what images come to mind? How do you think that compares to what Jesus has in store for this rebel, and for us?
- For whom will you be praying this week?
