Questions to Discuss or Ponder:

  1. Recall a time you found something in an unlikely place. What was it? What happened?
  2. What, do you think, motivated the two other men on crosses to join in the mocking of Jesus?
  3. What might have caused the change of heart for the one rebel?
  4. What is our natural tendency when something we have done wrong is found out? How does that contrast to what happens on Calvary?
  5. In Biblical terms, what does it mean if God remembers you?
  6. Why does Jesus promise paradise to this rebel? In what way does his promise mess with the usual way we understand repentance and salvation?
  7. When you picture “paradise,” what images come to mind? How do you think that compares to what Jesus has in store for this rebel, and for us?
  8. For whom will you be praying this week?
