Questions to Discuss or Ponder:

  1. Have you ever felt as if God was far away? What happened and how did you respond?
  2. Why would David have cried to God for help? What situation(s) do you think would cause you to do the same?
  3. What comfort does it give you that God empathizes with your struggles?
  4. Why doesn’t God speak louder? Why does God speak with a “still, small voice”?
  5. What’s the difference between a feeling and a commitment? Which one lasts longer? Why?
  6. What do you rely on the most: facts, faith or feelings? How does that affect your relationship with God?
  7. When or where do you feel closest to God? Why?
